There is plenty of research that shows that summer reading is crucial for students. The school is blessed to have so many readers already, so many will read a lot during the summer anyway.
Listed below are recommended summer reading lists for students (grades 1-8).
These reading lists were researched and come from several sources, including award winning reading lists (like Bluebonnet) and NCEA listed books that promote virtues.
Those who read 600 minutes during the summer will earn a Free Dress Day (as validated by turning in the reading log in the fall) on Aug. 21. This amounts to 1 hour of reading per week during the summer. The reading log will be on the honor system.
PK-K students may be read to by a parent, using a book that is appropriate for the student. Students received a hard copy of the reading log on the last day of school, but also can be printed here.
